Schwinn Sting-ray 20" Wheel Huret Bicycle

This is a very good New Old Stock example of a vintage original 20" speedometer drive by Huret, Schwinn part number 08 467, for Sting-Rays, Fastbacks or other bikes with 20" front wheels, and comes complete with white dust cap and a new installation hardware kit. It's had a cleaning and repacking and is in full working order.

This drive hub is a short-arm (80mm) design, and will fit the slots on the right side of an Atom drum brake if so equipped. Its drive ratio is 1:1.6. This drive is compatible with the chrome Schwinn Approved Huret speedometer and drive cable (not included; see my other listings for examples of those), as well as Huret-branded bicycle speedometers.

I'm also including a new installation hardware kit, consisting of:

• One 5/16" axle bushing (silver), for Sting-Rays, Fastbacks and similar 20" models with standard 5/16" front axles and coaster or caliper brakes
• Four installation washers, Schwinn 39 601, to be used to clear either the inner face of the front fork or the axle cone nut, as needed
• One foam dust ring seal

A black 3/8" axle bushing can be substituted for the silver 5/16" bushing on request. (Most vintage Schwinn bikes with bolt-on axles used 5/16" axles. Please measure the front axle diameter of your bike before ordering if you have a non-Schwinn axle.)

This drive is in clean New Old Stock condition (showing a little shelf wear) and full working order. I packed it with some fresh grease, and it turns smoothly. The drive arms have a 3 1/8" (80mm) span, each extending 1 9/16" from the center. The axle hole in the center is 7/16" diameter. I am also including a free scanned reprint of an original instruction sheet to help you get it all installed.

• This is not for quick-release front hubs. This is only for bicycles with bolt-on front axles.
• This is not for Stewart-Warner speedometers. This is a Huret speedometer part.
